Sustainable Design

The aim of Sustainable, or Green, Design is to create buildings, products and services that reduce negative impacts on the environment and on the health and comfort of building occupants.  By reducing the reliance on fossil fuels needed to heat, cool, power and light our buildings, the Sustainable Design philosophy can help reduce the consumption of non-renewable resources, minimize waste, and create healthy, productive environments that comply with economic, social and ecological sustainability.
The U.S. Green Building Council has developed the LEED® certification program as a standard measure of a project’s green features. LEED® is a points-based system where building projects earn LEED® points for satisfying specific green building criteria. The number of points a project earn determines the level of LEED® Certification the project receives. LEED® certification is available in four progressive levels that range from Certified to Platinum. Ohio Valley Supply is proud to contribute to Sustainable Design by offering several surfacing products that have a smaller environmental footprint and can contribute to LEED® points.
DuPont Achieves Zero Landfill Status
After three years of focused effort, DuPont Building Innovations has become completely landfill-free!  By reducing, reusing and recycling waste generated in the manufacturing of Corian®, Corian® Quartz and Tyvek® at sites all around the world, DuPont Building Innovations has reduced its environmental footprint from 81 millions pounds of landfill waste annually to zero.  Click the links to learn more about how DuPont Building Innovations has set a new industry standard for environmental stewardship.
Corian® Terra Collection

The Corian® Terra Collection contributes to Sustainable Building Design by having exceptional durability and extended life cycles, offering a beautiful and cost-effective surface with the added value of reduced waste. Corian® solid surfaces are also easily renewable, maintaining their original appearance for many years. The Corian® Terra Collection includes several gorgeous colors that are certified by the Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) to contain at least 6% pre-consumer recycled content, and can help contribute toward U.S. Green Building Council LEED® points in a variety of categories.

Like all Corian® solid surfaces, the Terra Collection is long-lasting and renewable, nontoxic and nonallergenic to humans, and GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified® and GREENGUARD for Children & Schools Certified®. Corian® is third-party certified to be free of heavy metals and is also NSF/ANSI 51 Certified for food contact.

Corian® colors that are not part of the Terra Collection also contain recycled content.  Due to the variability in the type of recycled content used in these colors, DuPont did not include them in the certification by SCS.  Upon request, we can provide documentation on the recycled content of any Corian® color to fulfill LEED® requirements.

Corian® Quartz Terra Collection

Discover the beauty and the durability of quartz combined with post-consumer recycled content for more sustainable design. The Corian® Quartz Terra Collection includes stunning colors that contain a percentage of post-consumer recycled content (post-consumer content percentages vary by color). The Corian® Quartz Terra Collection has also received the coveted Green Approved Product Seal for National Green Building Certification by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center. Now, builders who use these “Green Approved” DuPont products can earn points toward certification to the National Green Building Standard™. Like the Corian® Terra Collection, Corian® Quartz Terra Collection colors are GREENGUARD Certified for Indoor Air Quality and for use with Children & Schools. The Corian® Quartz Terra Collection can also help contribute toward U.S. Green Building Council LEED® points in a variety of categories.

Corian® Quartz colors that are not part of the Terra Collection also contain recycled content.  Upon request, we can provide documentation on the recycled content of any Corian® Quartz color to fulfill LEED® requirements.

Like all Corian® Quartz colors, the Terra Collection is nontoxic and nonallergenic to humans and is NSF/ANSI Standard 51 Certified for food contact.
